You’ll arrive in Casablanca and transfer to the hotel, where you’ll meet your photography guides and the rest of the group. The rest of the day is spent at your own leisure, recuperating from your flight, preparing for the trip ahead or perhaps familiarizing yourself with the city.
This is your chance to explore the famous city of Casablanca and experience one of the trip highlights — the Hasan II Mosque. You’ll visit the mosque both in the morning, when you are granted the mosque’s decadent interior, and the evening, just as the external lights are switched on.
You’ll spend the middle part of the day walking through the city looking for street photography opportunities, before dining in a restaurant overlooking the ocean in the evening.
On the trip’s first travel day, you’ll disembark early for the city of Fes. The journey takes most of the day, bringing you to your home for the next three nights, a centuries-il Riad overlooking the famous walled medina of Fes’s old town.
You’ll enjoy a full day in Fez, visiting historical sights and looking for street and architecture photography opportunities. This will be your first chance to explore the narrow, tunnel-like streets of Moroccan souks and the frenetic markets within them. You'll also visit historical sites like the King’s Palace, and the old Jewish Cemetery.
An excursion to Ifran. Ifran, an hour and a half’s drive from Fez, is the gateway to the western side of the Atlas Mountains. Nicknamed the ‘Swiss Alps of Morocco’, characterized by ski-slopes, tall mountains, and Swiss style chalets characterize the landscapes.
Afterwards, we’ll head out to search for and photograph the famous Barbary apes, the only primate, other than humans, living north of the Sahara in Africa. February is the ideal time of year to visit, while the mountains are snow capped and the deep conifer forests are draped in white.
We’ll leave Fez for the famous ‘Blue City’, Chefchaouen, enjoying an excursion to the remarkably well-preserved ancient Roman ruins in Volubilis.
You will arrive at your accommodation in Chefchaouen, positioned immediately outside the city’s famous old town, by late afternoon. Once settled in, you can capture their first impressions of the surreal, sky blue medinas in the last of the day’s light.
A full day spent exploring the city’s medinas. This gives us a chance to not only visit all the sites but to observe how town changes across the day and how its inhabitants interact with the unique environment.
Waking early, we will venture into the walled city at dawn, to capture the serene sky-blue medina before the stalls open up and the artisanal economy of the city fills the streets. We will continue our exploration to the city’s rooftops to take in the skyline of the town, as well as views of the surrounding Rif mountains. At dusk, we will visit a hillside Spanish church for its commanding view of Chefchaouen.
The day starts early with the journey to Rabat, Morocco's Capital and seventh largest city.
We will arrive in Rabat for lunch, before touring the city to take in some of the contrast and juxtaposition between the rapidly modernizing city and the living history of its old harbor town. The tour will include the Mausoleum of Mohammed and the 12th century Hasan Tower, from which they can view the new Mohammed VI Tower, the tallest building in Africa.
The final days of our Morocco photo tour are spent in Marrakech, perhaps the most iconic of Morocco’s city. Containing many famous sites and locations such as the famous Jemaa El Fna Square, the world’s oldest university, one of the country’s most vibrant and colorful Souks and the rest of the Medina Walls, the two days spent exploring this city will provide a worthy climax for the trip.
The day of departure. We will say our goodbyes and make preparations for your flight home. Depending on the timing of everyone’s flights, there will be an optional final photo-shoot of the country before departure.
