Snow, silence, and world-class photography hides

Estonia remains a hidden gem for wildlife photographers, offering untouched landscapes and rich biodiversity. In winter, snow-covered forests and frosted wetlands create a magical setting where birds and mammals stand out in striking contrast against the white backdrop.

This exclusive tour centers around a brand new state-of-the-art hide complex, purpose-built with photographers in mind, and located in one of Estonia’s most wildlife-rich regions. You will have exclusive access to the hide complex including five specialist hides, each connected to each other and designed to provide comfortable, silent, and unobtrusive shooting environments. Although in its infancy, these hides have already proven successful in attracting a wide variety of bird and mammal species, including white-tailed eagle, Eurasian sparrow hawk, Northern goshawk, Eastern marsh harrier, rough-legged buzzards, common buzzards, multiple species of beautiful woodpeckers and woodland birds, and mammals including fox and racoon dog.

With a small group size, expert guidance, and the comfort of a nearby hotel in the heart of the Otepää Wilderness, this small-group experience offers hands-on tuition and exceptional opportunities to expand your portfolio in one of Europe’s most pristine winter environments.

Your Photographic Experience

This is a hide-based photography tour, with the focus on long, immersive shooting sessions in quiet, heated hides equipped with all the tools photographers need. This brand-new hide facility, completed in March 2025, offers one of the most advanced photographic experiences in Europe. Be among the first photographers to use it–and take advantage of its perfect design, pristine conditions, and untapped potential. Bird activity is frequent and often dramatic– especially with raptors drawn to the area in search of food. The Reflection Pool Hide offers stunning low-angle opportunities with mirrored surfaces, while the Woodpecker Feeding Station brings action close and fast. During low light, floodlit hides extend the shooting hours and allow for more creative work.   The Hides Designed for photographers, by photographers, this brand-new, state-of-the-art wildlife hide complex has been built with over 30 years of experience using hides around the world. It features crystal-clear, one-way photographic glass by Photologistics (Spain), the world leader in specialist hide glass, allowing photographers to capture natural wildlife behavior without being seen or disturbing the animals. The site includes five purpose-built hides, each offering unique photographic opportunities, with low-level, eye-level windows that deliver immersive and intimate perspectives. At the heart of the facility is a fully soundproofed 4m x 12m main hide, providing ample space to move, collaborate, and shoot in comfort–a rare and invaluable feature that enables in-the-moment tuition from your tour leader without disrupting the wildlife. Photographers can stay warm thanks to a full heating system and enjoy adjustable-height tables, free use of bean bags, tripods, Arca Swiss tripod heads, and multiple power sockets to keep gear charged throughout the day. A conference room is also available for editing, teaching sessions, and presentations. Although the facility can accommodate up to 24, our tours are limited to just 8 photographers to ensure a more personal, flexible, focused, and enjoyable experience.

Feedback

“Estonia really surprised me. I knew it would offer stunning landscapes and wildlife, but I didn’t expect to feel such a powerful sense of wilderness. There’s a rawness to the environment, especially in the depths of winter, that’s both beautiful and harsh. I created some of the most striking bird photography I have ever captured. It felt pure, unfiltered, and wild.”
