Botswana and the Okavango Delta
The Botswana Wildlife Photography Workshop hits many magnificent areas of the country. Perhaps the most famous, however, is the wetlands of the Okavango Delta. Led by expert guides and under the photographic instruction of a professional wildlife photographer, the Delta is a fantastic place where anyone can enjoy a one-of-a-kind wildlife experience.
“The Okavango Delta is an astonishing sight: the great Okavango River, rather than flow towards the sea, flows inland, into the sands of the Kalahari.” – Alexander McCall Smith
One of the most sought-after wilderness destinations in the world, the Okavango Delta is certainly magnificent and astonishing to behold. This fan-shaped wetland covers roughly 15,000 square acres of the Kalahari Desert in northern Botswana. Water flows into the delta from the Okavango River, with seasonal flooding during Botswana’s wet season. During the dry season, the time in which the Botswana photo safari with Trai Anfield will run, the Okavango Delta becomes a rare source of water in this desert country, which is the cause for great migrations of the plains game as they flock to its shores. The Okavango Delta is thus known for fantastic wildlife viewing and birding, making it central to the country’s safari industry, as well as a hub for wildlife photography.
“For anyone who feels they are overwhelmed by their job, or maybe they take their job too seriously or are working too hard, I say go to a safari, particularly the Okavango Delta, and just be humbled.” – Jill Scott
